EOG Technical Committee Considers Virtual Convention

The Egypt Oil & Gas (EOG) Technical Committee held its second virtual meeting on May 20 to evaluate the likelihood of having a virtual convention and webinars moving forward. The committee discussed all possible ways of business continuity amid COVID-19, whether it is in the return-to-office scenario or the work from home for an indefinite period of time scenario.

It was agreed that both scenarios should be carefully assessed, with certain guidelines and safety procedures to be incorporated to them. Provided that businesses shall continue working virtually, the committee shall begin with preliminary virtual webinars, paving the way for virtual conventions in the future. A subcommittee for handling virtual webinars will be created.

The committee will kick off another safety campaign with all the necessary precautions and instructions in place such as what are the best masks and medical equipment to use. At the end, members shared the lessons learnt from COVID-19, highlighting how this shall enhance the oil and gas sector as a whole.

EOG Committee was launched in 2012 to unify the industry’s voice and to work in parallel with the government to enhance the well-being of the petroleum industry. Egypt Oil & Gas Committee brings together exploration and production companies, service companies, government entities, and leading industry experts under one roof to address the challenges the industry is facing, and to find potential solutions.
